Scilly Isles Adventure

23rd - 29th August - Plymouth - Scilly Isles - Plymouth - £750

A granite archipelago where the boundary between the land and sea is re-drawn with every tide. The Isles of Scilly are separated by deep blue channels slowly reconnect as glittering white beaches emerge with the falling tide. The rippled seabed exposed reveals starfish where we once sailed with hand bearing compass held tight.

The passage to the Scillies is approx 90 miles and will take a day. This can be quite a demanding trip as you sail out of the English Channel and out into the Ocean. Especially if unforeseen bad weather is encountered.

There is also a strong possibility of seeing some of the marine wildlife that richly inhabit these Gulf Stream waters. Once at the Scillies your experienced skipper will guide you through the stunning archipelago of wild, granite islands. There are many anchorages and sheltered moorings to choose from and together, you can create your own adventure according to your needs

This is essentially a hands on adventure sail where you really get involved in sailing and living on a 70ft yacht. You will have the opportunity to learn about the amazing marine environment around you and our experienced instructors are happy to share their knowledge on sailing.

Ports of call

Plymouth

Plymouth

Plymouth is a port city in Devon, southwest England. It’s known for its maritime heritage and historic Barbican district with narrow, cobbled streets. In the harbour are several marinas and a fish market. Plymouth has a rich history for you to explore including the Mayflower Steps, where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for the New World in 1620.

Scilly Isles

Scilly Isles

These islands were at the hub of an almost forgotten civilization stretching across the Western Atlantic from the Hebrides in the north to Galicia in the south.

The Isles of Scilly became a kind of Neolithic service station at the heart of this vast diaspora, offering a safe haven for vessels plying their trade across the Atlantic more than a thousand years before Christopher Columbus set sail.
